Latest Update on Retrogression

March 14, 2005

Alda Professional Placement Services was recently involved on a retrogression update  with various attorney groups, recruiters and lobbyist. There was some good news from this update

The latest news as of today is that there is a 70% likelihood that there will be a bill passed in congress within 45 days that will capture unused visa numbers from prior years. There has always been a visa cap (number limit on how many visas were issued per year) for nurses in the previous years but the cap had never been reached. Since these visas were not issued in the past years, the unused portion may be captured (brought forward) and used for processing. This means that it will allow the INS and the NVC to continue processing visa petitions filed from 2002 to the present without any delay!.

We will know the outcome of this bill within 60 days. It is very important for all nurses that are sponsored by Alda's client Hospitals , Nursing Homes and other Medical Facilities, to continue moving along quickly in the program, especially if they are at fee receipt or the packet 3 stage of the visa process. The nurses could arrive in the US as early as mid year.

Alda's Clients  would like to sponsor as many nurses as possible to the take the NCLEX very soon. The nurses that are located in the Philippines, we would like them to take the NCLEX in Hong Kong prior to their arrival to the US. For the nurses in India, we would like  them to sit for testing in London or the US.
